My Physical Therapy and Massage clients love to joke that I’m educating my way out of my job. So far that hasn’t been the case, but if frequency of individual visits is reduced, I’ll take that as a win. My goal for you is results.
I’ve been a Massage Therapist since 1991, and a Physical Therapist since 1996. The secret of my longevity providing manual therapy is my own, ever-evolving, self-care routine. Like most of my clients, my work involves a prolonged body position incorporating several specific repetitive motions. Besides the fact that I’m standing, and use a wider variety of repeated movements, it’s actually similar to sitting at a desk working on a computer. In my experience, prolonged position and repetitive movement patterns are the main cause for chronically contracted soft tissues, postural deviations, and reduced range of motion. Unfortunately, this seems to be an epidemic of modern life. Most of us sit most of the day. And when we do get up and move, it’s often in very limited ways. This is why I believe everyone needs bodywork, preferably daily. I work on myself every day, not only because I enjoy the process and the results, but because I show up for life as a better version of myself than I would otherwise. In that regard, self-care can actually be viewed as selfless. If you’re someone who loves how you feel after a skilled bodywork session, it would be my pleasure to show you how you can experience that feeling every day: by becoming your own bodyworker.
